Mid Ulster - Francie Molloy

Francie Molloy is from County Tyrone and has been active in his area's political and community life since his teens. He was one of the first people in his area to join the Civil Rights Movement and has been involved in local and national political life ever since.

Francie is a member of Sinn Féin's Ard Chomhairle (National Executive) and the party's negotiations team.

During the 1981 Hunger Strike Francie was Director of Elections for Bobby Sands and Owen Carron, both of whom won a Westminister seat in Fermanagh/South Tyrone. He was elected to Dungannon Council in 1985 and is currently serving as Chairperson of the Council.

Elected to the Assembly for Mid Ulster in 1998, he was chairperson of the Finance and Personnel Committee and also was a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee. He is currently chairperson of the Sinn Féin Equality Commission. He is the party spokesperson on Finance.

Francie is a leading member of our International Department and he regularly travels to England to represent Sinn Féin at various forums. He was re-elected to the Assembly in November 2003.
